12/19/09 - Less than a week to go until Christmas. It has warmed up to about 20 degrees here after several days near 0 or below. It feels like Spring! Here's one of the Santas on the garland around our porch.

12/09/09 - We finally got some snow. It was about -5 degrees when I took this snapshot of our house this evening.

11/28/09 - Happy Thanksgiving. I'm finally getting around to updating this web-site and posting some photos. Could be that I just got billed for another year and I have to justify the payment.

Anyway here's a photo from around 1919 of the Thome - Noesges clan. Using her detective skills. my cousin Dot Clark has done a wonderful job of identifying many of those in the photo and fixing a place and date. See the photo here, see the identification data here, and read her commentary here. The photo was given to me by Anita Busch see here comment here.

6/22/09 - This seemed like a good message to pass along now that it is Summer.

To All the Kids Who Survived the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's! Related stories Land of Sandra Dee and Growing Up on Globe 1, 2, and 3.

6/17/09 - A lot of interesting things have taken place since mid-April when the Busch family contacted me. Anita Busch has sent me some great family photos and letters that fill in some of the family history. I will meet them next month in the Los Angeles area. The trip will coincide with my daughter Vanessa's return to the US mainland from Hawaii. She will be in So. California with my grandsons, Nathaniel and Jonathan in late July

I have updated the family tree with some more names and some dates on my Dad's side. I will post some photos shortly.

5/29/09 - I'm finally getting around to posting some photos and information that my cousin Anita Busch has sent to me. I knew from a newspaper article that my grnadfather had a brother and sister in the St Paul area at the time of his death. A letter from 1979 sheds some light on Reinhold Hein's Siblings.

4/19/09- It is amazing how fast time passes. We have just returned from a two-week vacation to Washington D.C. and Virginia. We saw a lot and took a lot of photos. Hopefully, I'll get around to posting some soon.

I had a real surprise this evening - a phone call from my Dad's side of the family. First was Anita Busch, daughter of my cousin Catherine Busch. She found this web-site and contacted me. We had a nice conversation exchanged some stories, addresses and phone numbers.

A little bit later I received a phone call from my cousin Catherine Busch. We also had a nice converstation and promised to stay in contact.

1/4/09- Note to the Garde descendants. A Senor Jose Oms Piera, would like to contact you regarding the Gardes who migrated from Isaba, Spain to New Mexico. You can read about his project here and here is information he has collected on Constantino Garde. His e-mail is isabanewmexico@coac.net

Linda Lucero has given me an update on the Family Tree for the Ernest Lucero branch. I have linked her original page there which has birth dates. I would appreciate any updates or corrections you wish to send along.

10/15/08 - I received an e-mail not too long ago from the grand-daughter of my Aunt Agnes Atkinson (Hein). They lived in Milwaukee, WI. I only remember meeting them once in 1962. The e-mai was from Joni Rashka Schuessler. I have replied to her e-mail but have been unsuccessful in getting a response. She did give me a bunch of information and I was able to update the Family Tree with some names. I searched the web for Atkinsons and found some names out at reunion.com that appear to be good possibilities. I'll post results as they come in.

8/18/08 - I just received some bad news from my cousin Gil Baca Jr. His sister Chris Palma (Baca) passed away a week ago on Austust 10th. I haven't seen Chris form many a year. My most vivid recollection is when we visited them in Escondido, California in the early '60's. Chris was quite good at the Twist and taught me how to do it. Please stop by and Read Obituary... Visit GuestBook to let the family know you're thinking of them.

8/4-8/11/08 - We are in Indianapolis,Indiana. Meagan is swimming at the 2008 Central Zone Meet as a part of Team Minnesota.. She qualified for three events, 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and 100 Backstroke. She's pretty excited to swim in the Universtiy of Indiana Natatorium where many of the Olympic stars have swum. Who knows there may be a Michael Phelps or a Dara Torres competing here this week. After the meet we are off to the Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio, then onto Chicago to see daughter Nicole and my grand-kids.

7/11/08 I am falling further and further behind as I try and catch up with the photos and movies. We're on the go about every week-end. We spent a week in Omaha, Nebraska attending the US Swim Team Olympic Trials (more movies and photos). It was a lot of time then it's back to work this week. On a lighter note check out Educational Opportunities for Men.

5/27/08 Lots of news since I last posted...

I became a Grandfather for the 5th time on 5/18/08. My second daughter Vanessa delivered a baby-boy. His name is Jonathan. Here he is at 3-days old. Nathaniel is very excited to have a baby brother.

I will be travelling to California this week to attend the graduation of my niece Jennifer from college. My sister DeeDee and husband Mo will be there as well. I haven't seen her in about 15 yrs so i am really looking forward to it. We will visit with my cousin Delores Garde as well.

I made two trips to Singapore/Thailand this year and visited with my brother Bob and his wife, Bianca, during both trips. I will post some photos soon.

My niece Erin is off to South Africa and will be blogging about her experience there. Erins Blog .

2/22/08 I made an interesting discovery tonight. I found a reference to my grandmother, Maria Rita Crespin, at Trementina.com . At the page, scroll down to 11. Vizente Antonio3 Crespin and you will find her name at number 52.

1/05/08 Try the NEW Improved Guestbook through the link above. I'll post the previous Guestbook entries into the Guestbook Archive later.

12/07/07 Hannah helps the St. Louis Park Swim Team. We're pretty proud around here as St. Louis Park has completed its swim season. Hannah lettered as a 7th grader on the High School Varsity Swim Team and earned All Conference. News here and here.

9/20/07 Homemade Pizza anyone?

9/7/07 Highlights of our visit to the Minnesota State Fair .

8/25/07 I put up a slideshow of some of summer highlights.

7/25/07 The Guestbook is working again! We've been vacationing aroumd Minnesota. We have lots of photos and videos to share. Coming soon.

7/18/07 The e-mail addresses on the Birthday.List page have been updated. Thanks to Susan for the additions and corrections.

Sorry bu th Guestbook is still broken.

6/12/07 The link to the Garde Clan is fixed. Thanks to Victoria Mascarenas for letting me know. If you wish to print a photo... put the mouse cursor over the photo and right-click (click on the right mouse button). You should a menu where you can select "Print Pitcure...". You will get a dialog box where you can select the printer and number of copies to print. We're packing up to go camping in the morning so I may not have time to do any editing, but the photos are smaller than I wanted. This means they will print small. When we return I'll edit and make larger photos available.

I wrote an e-mail to http://tarawaontheweb.org/ where Sebastian is on the casualty list. I noticed several of the names had a short bio and photos. I mentioned the Garde History and asked if they would accept one for Sebastian. I'll let you know what they say.

Tomorrow it is off to feed the mosquitos in Northern Minnesota. We are going to Savanna Portage. The early explorers - voyageurs - would enter Minnesota on the west end of Lake Superior and caroe and portage (carry) their canoes through intersecting lakes and rivers to the Mississippi River. I think we'll just settle for a canoe ride around some of the lakes and rivers. The weather should be nice so we'll probably rent a pontoon and do some fishing. I mean I'll get everything ready, bait the hooks, get the fish off the hooks, clean them, cook them and eat them while everyone else has hot dogs. It has to look like a fish stick before the kids will eat it.

6/9/07 Check out the photos sent to me by Delores (Garde) and Carmen Centanni. The photos are from the Garde trip to Santa Fe, NM (see below) they are here, here, and here. I've included a Garde Clan page (thanks Carmen and Delores) so you can idenitfy those in the photos. Please let me know of any mistakes or updates. Read about Arthur, Pascual, Sebastian, and Mariano Garde.

4/24/07 I received an e-mail today from Marianne (Noonie), Gene Garde's daughter. It included a clip of a news report on the Bataan Memorial. My cousin Delores, husband Carmen, Noonie and others were in attendance of an April 9th ceremony during which my Aunt Frances, and her family, were recognized for their extraordinary sacrifice during WWII. Read this news clip and be sure to watch the video. I believe the Michelle Garde interviewed in the newscast is Michael Alonso's daughter, Michelle. That sure looks like my cousin Delores standing behind her.

4/4/07 Hannah and Meagan have bought their dresses for the Piano Recital. I'll post some photos of the event when it takes place.I've been pretty busy at work and haven't had much time to work on the website. Perhaps later this month.

I was hoping to get others interested in a Family Reunion but have come to realize that a great many of us have never met or at least it has been a long time since we met. That makes it difficult for extended family members to dedicate the time, effort and money needed to meet somewhere, especially with us being spread all around the states.

3/13/07 We've had quite a busy month around here. Hannah and Meagan have both won in the Minnesota Music Teacher's Association Piano Competition. That means they placed in the the top 25 of students in the state in their category. This is Meagan's second year of competition. She came very close last year to winning and with some extra effort this year she made it. Hannah has made it four out of the five years she has competed. We're very proud of them.

The State Swimming Championships were held last week-end (yes the same week-end as the pianp competition) in Rochester, Minnesota. Meagan swam in two relays and Hannah burnt up the pool taking eighth in the state in the 100yd Backstroke. Her time qualified her for the Central Zone Swim Meet to be held in Topeka, Kansas August.10-12. We hope she'll qualify for another couple of strokes this Spring and Summer. The way Meagan is swimming she should make it next year.

I've heard from my cousin MartinValdez, son of Billie and Laura. He has left his e-mail address in the Guestbook if you'd like to drop him a line.

Check out Henry's page. I've posted some photos there.

2/19/07 I'm still hoping for participation on the Bulletin Board. If I have sent you a user name/password try logging in and leave a comment.

I heard from my cousin Delores and her husband Carmen. They are back in California after living in Las Vegas.

We're in the middle of a heat wave. The temperature climbed up to 19 degrees this morning. We've been stuck in the single digits and colder for the past 2-3 weeks.

The girls, Hannah and Meagan, have been competing in swim meets. Their times are constantly improving. There were at Rochester, MN this past week-end. Hannah missed a "Zone Time" by 0.25 seconds in the 100 m Backstroke. If she makes it we're off to Kansas where she will swim against others from the around the mid-West.

I came across some photos from a trip we took to France in 1994 and put a few in a slideshow.

2/3/07 Please bear with me while I rearrange some things.on this page. I hope to make thins a bit easier to over the next couple of months.

-14 degrees this morning. This is the coldest it has been this winter. They predict a heat wave next Tuesday, Feb. 6th. The temperature is supposed to climb close to 10 degrees above zero. It kind of makes you wonder how the pioneer families survived this place.

The girls, Hannah and Meagan, are in a swim meet this week-end as well as piano competition. I'll be content to do a few chores around the house and watch the Super Bowl at my brother-in-law's (Mark) house tomorrow evening.

We went to the Monster Truck Jam a few weeks ago. During the show they promoted the Monster Truck Show in Las Vegas this March. Last week we gat a call from Henry's kindergarden teacher. It seems the class was telling one another about exciting things in their life. One little girl told of how her parents were travelling to India and were going to bring her a new baby sister. Henry raised his hand, went to the front of the class and told them that if they wanted to win free tickets to the Monster Jam in Las Vegas they could go online to monsterjamonline.com and enter the contest. He wrote the link to the website on the chalkboard. My wife is so glad that I take him to these shows.

1/26/07 Why we live where we live. Click here to read a story in the local paper about St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The "Kelsey Okey, mentioned in the story is my niece.

01/11/07 Here's a photo sent to me by Carol Serr (Garde Side) of her with Kate Garde and kids.

01/09/07 Sorting through my e-mail I found these photos... Aunt Fannie Alfonso Miguel Garde
